SUPREME COURT DISMISSES THE APPLICATION BY EMEKA IHEDIOHA of PDP SEEKING A CERTIFICATE OF RETURN                                                                                                              05-12-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      The Supreme Court has dismissed the application by Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State seeking a certificate of return as the lawful governor of the state.

Ihedioha had through his counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome, told the apex court that Governor Hope Uzodinma was not qualified to run for the election in the first place, arguing that Uche Nwosu was earlier declared by the court as the rightful candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

However, the Apex Court dismissed the motion on the ground that it had no jurisdiction to entertain such a motion.

In a ruling, Justice Tijani Abubakar held that the request was strange, frivolous, baseless, unwarranted and vexatious.

He awarded the cost of N40 million against Mike Ozekhome for bringing the matter before the Apex court.
