The 222 Battalion Konduga in Borno has organised sanitation and medical outreach in commemoration of the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Other activities organised to mark the day included environmental sanitation and a football tournament for the vulnerable indigenes of recovered communities of Konduga Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking on the activities in Konduga on Sunday, the Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Olugbenga Osuntuyi, said that the event was in line with measures to enhance civil-military relations.

Osuntuyi said that apart from winning the hearts and minds of Konduga communities, it would also strengthen the existing mutual cooperation between the Nigerian Army and other stakeholders in the fight against insurgency in the North East.

Declaring the event opened, Maj.-Gen. Adewale Adekeye, the Commander, 21 Special Armoured Brigade, Bama, who spoke on fostering Civil-Military Corporation (CIMIC), said the the activity would also promote the spirit of excellence and healthy relationship among host communities.

Adekeye, who was represented by the Brigade Chief of Staff, Lt. Col. Williams Ogbuoloko, said that the overall objective, particularly the sporting event, was to channel the energies of the youths towards productive and legitimate engagement.

He therefore urged the people of Konduga to pray for peace in Borno and Nigeria at large.
