NLC URGES FGN TO OPEN NATION’S BORDERS TO MAKE FOOD AVAILABLE                                                          28-02-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Kwara state Council has appealed to the federal government to open the nation’s borders and make food available and affordable for the common man.

The NLC chairman,Comrade Murtala Olayinka made the appeal while addressing Newsmen in continuation of the 2-Day rally organised by the union in Ilorin.

He said opening the border will create competition and make food cheaper in the country.

Comrade Olayinka said the farmers and importer who are involved in arbitrary increase in the prices of goods and services would have a rethink.

He said the idea of opening the border will also enable the people buy food items that has comparative advantage to feed the family.

The labour leader advised the federal government to strengthened it agencies responsible with price control to make food affordable for the common man.

He urged government at all levels to put in place a policy that will alleviate the hardship people are passing through.

Comrade Olayinka noted that government should discourage the use of dollar as a means of storing value to strengthened the naira.

He maintained that the federal government should as a matter of urgency find a lasting solution to insecurity, poor electricity supply to make life better for the citizenry.
