The President Association of Foreign Relations Professionals of Nigeria Ambassador Gani Lawan says Nigeria must continue to work closely with its African neighbours by sharing information and resources if it must maintain its big brother status on the continent.

Appoint competent hand as Foreign minister.

He started this in Abuja at a press briefing ahead of the fifth annual lecture of the Association with the topic “Examining the Nexus between Foreign Policy Goals and Democratic Governance”

Ambassador Gani Lawan explained that Nigeria needs to also invest abundantly in the African Union Mantra of Regional Integration and Cooperation to maintain peace in the continent.

He said silencing the guns and extending support for less developed neighbours and conflict resolution through dialogue and compromise would also enhance regional integration and cooperation.

Ambassador Lawan expressed the association was concerned over the unusual new developments such as challenges posed by non-state actors, narcotics, the proliferation of small arms and increased transnational crimes that required improved strategies to tackle.

On the appointment of Ministers, the President Association of Foreign Relations Professionals of Nigeria urged Presiden Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure a qualified person was appointed as minister of Foreign Affairs.
