NIGER NLC LEADS PEACEFUL PROTEST TO STATE ASSEMBLY

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC),Niger State Chapter has joined her counterparts across the 36 states of the federation to protest the removal of fuel subsidy.

The peaceful protest lead by the State NLC Chairman,Comrade Idris Lafene, took off from Labour House IBB road,Minna, and terminated at the State Assembly complex.

The NLC Chairman,Comrade Idris Lafene while in his remarks,described the policy of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu administration as anty people which has caused untold hardship to the ordinary Nigerians,and call on the President to retrack and do away with it.

The NLC Chairman stated that the objective of protest to the Assembly, as an arm of government is to urge the legislatures to impress on the federal government to make life easy to the less previlege Nigerians.

He also called on the federal government to as a matter of urgency intervene in the transportation sector,education sector, health,agriculture as well as assist small and medium interprizes to chusion the effect of removal of fuel subsidy at all levels.

Comrade Lafene explained that Nigerlites have faced with numerous problem ranging from security challenges,bad roads,infrastructural decade and hike in the food stuffs.

Idris noted that farmers can not go to their farms,the situation is said was uncalled for.

According to him,”you can not compare Niger State with other states,we are faced with infrastructure decade everywhere,our roads are not motorable, is only in Niger State that people fixed prizes of goods in the market without anybody talking,we are in a sorry situation in Niger” Lafene said.

The NLC boss however enjoined the state government to review the salary of workers,pensioners and casual workers across board.

He advised the people to go about their normal businesses and not to take law into their hand, adding that things will get better soon.

Earlier,the Speaker of the state Assembly,Barrister Abdulmalik Sarikin Daji lauded the NLC leadership for the peaceful manner he handle the protest,and assured that the legislatures are 100% in support of NLC objectives.

SarikinDaji disclosed that already the assembly had earlier proposed 3 motions to the state government,which include,the upward review of workers salary and pensioners,consider the provision of palliative to less privilege to chusion the removal of fuel subsidy.

“I assured you that you are in the right place,and your communication would be deliver to Mr President, I will led other members to the Presidency”.Malik said.

He lauded NLC for the peaceful protest and promised to jion the protest on Thursday to government house.

Deputy Governor of the state,Comrade Yakubu Garba,who was the immediate past Chairman of NLC, fully participated in the protest.
