KNSG PARTNERS WITH USAID TO ENHANCE ADOLESCENTS’ HEALTH 20-09-23
By Sadiq Aminu The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with development partners to ensure improved adolescents health geared towards enhancing youth development.
The Commissioner for Information Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye disclosed this during the official media campaign lunch of youth-powered ecosystem to advance urban adolescent health (YPE4AH) Held at Ungogo Local Government Area.
He commended the foresight and commitment of the YPE4AH for selecting Kano State to be among the only two implementing states for the projects in Nigeria.
Dantiye Said Kano State Ministry of Information is fully aware of the laudable programmes started under the YPE4AH Project which basically aimed at improving the health and well-being of out of school youths in our community and more importantly to empower them with skills, social capital and resources to realize their full potentials.
“As most of the activities under the YPE4H are centered around sensitization and awareness of its target audience, the role of media therefore can never be overemphasized considering their positions in promoting the live of the common man and agent of societal development.”
” I want to implore all the media organizations in the state to accord their maximum support and cooperation to this project so as to achieve sustainable awareness creation, sensitization and mobilization.”
In her remark the head of strategy YPE4AH Carol Ofem said the project has commenced community-level program implementation in Kano using the TEENSMATA Youth hubs as a point of its activities.
She said there is a need to increase awareness and visibility for the project via mass and social media.
“To this end, an official media launch is needed to create awareness about the project and its activities increase knowledge and awareness among the target audience and drive foot traffic to the Youths Hubs in Ungogo and Wudil in order to complete the messages delivered at the community level.
This will also increase referrals for ASRH, GBV, Substance abuse, and other related services to TEENSMATA youth hubs and spoke facilities in our intervention communities.”
Earlier the commissioner for Health Dr Abubakar Labaran Represented by Dr Ibrahim Aliyu said the ministry would accord all the needed support , geared towards achieving the stated goals.
