KANO STATE POLYTECHNIC HANDS OVER KIIR TO MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY                                                                                          10-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        The Management of Kano State Polytechnic has officially handed over the Kano State Institute of Information Technology (KIIT), Kura to Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation.

Speaking at the handing over, the rector Associate Professor Kabir Bello Gungurawa described the development as a milestone that would go a long way in boosting the ICT sector

He explained that the Institute was taken over by the Polytechnic from the then Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil in 2021.

Kabiru Dungurawa pointed out that, after taking over the Institute in 2021, a letter was written to NBTE informing them about the development, as well as requesting permission to replicate two courses, offered at the school of science and technology (SOT).

The Rector further assured the Ministry that, the Kano State Polytechnic, would continue to support the Institute to actualize it’s mandate.

He stressed that, the State Executive Council has approved the continuation of academic activities across the twenty-six (26) Entrepreneurship Institutes, closed down by the previous administration.

“Today as we are handing over the Institute all the graduates of KIIT, from 2021 – to date, are awarded with a National Diploma.”

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of science, technology and innovation,Dr. Binta Umar Bala, acknowledged and appreciated the dedication of the KSP management, during the handing-over process.

She described the existing cordial working relationship, between KSP and the Ministry as a major catalyst that, would go a long way in uplifting the institute to global standard.

“We are aware of all the struggles, efforts, and commitments you have made to ensuring the existence of the Institute, as its counterparts had been closed for a long time.

The newly appointed Director of the Institute, Dr. Abdullahi Garba Ali commended the mutual understanding demonstrated by the KSP management, throughout the handing-over process, adding that, the gesture shows that KSP is one of the leading Institutes in the state.
