AFRICA ELECTIONS:: UNITED NATIONS HAS BEGAN CONSULTATIONS WITH POLITICAL PARTIES IN THE COUNTRY                                                         19-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                          In a bid to strengthen the Nigerian electoral process and ensure credibility in future elections in Africa, the internal Oversight office of the United Nations has began
consultations with political parties in the country.

At a consultative meeting at the New Nigeria Peoples Party ,NNPP national Headquarters in Abuja, the UN body pledged it’s commitment to promoting democracy by tackling the loopholes noticed in the 2023 general election.

The secretary of the Internal Oversight Service of the United Nations Yuen Ching who led the UN delegation said they had initiated a survey to aid the process.

The Deputy National Chairman, South, of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Mr. Nwaeze Onu who expressed worry over the Nigeria democratic system, however said the party was welcome to fresh ideas on how democracy can be strengthened in the country.
