APC LED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DISAGREES WITH THE CANDIDATE OF PDP IN THE 2023 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OVER THE VERDICT OF THE SUPREME COURT                                                                                                 31-10-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        The All Progressives Congress APC led Federal Government has disagreed with the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over the verdict of the supreme court on the election.

The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President, Mr. Bayo Onanuga has therefore advised Alhaji Atiku to retire from politics and refrain from overheating the system.

This advice was given in response to the former Vice President’s reaction to the Supreme Court’s verdict, which upheld President Bola Tinubu’s election.

During a news conference in Abuja, Alhaji Atiku had insisted on Tinubu’s disqualification from participating in the February 2023 presidential election due to alleged certificate forgery.

Alhaji Atiku insisted that both the Supreme Court and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were endorsing unlawful activities, including identity theft, impersonation, certificate forgery, and perjury.

The former Vice President emphasized that when people lose trust in the electoral process, democracy is endangered.

But Mr Onanuga however, expressed his disappointment with the former Vice President for what he described as disregard and denigration of the judiciary.

Mr. Onanuga said the former Vice president has shown that he only celebrates judicial pronouncements when they favour him an indication that his claim to be a true democratic was questionable.

The Supreme Court had on Thursday last week affirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu as duly elected in the February 25 presidential election.

Delivering judgment, the 7- Man Panel of Justices led by Justice Inyang Okoro held that the failure by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to transmit election results electronically did not affect the outcome of the election and does not warrant the nullification of the result of the presidential election.
