WOMEN CALL FOR DECLARATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY ON 35% AFFIRMATIVE ACTION FOR WOMEN                                                             23-11-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     The League of Women Voters in Nigeria has called for declaration of State of emergency for thirty five percent inclusion of women action in all sectors in Nigeria.
At annual conference in Abuja, the Founder of the League, Dr. Esther Uduehi, tasked women to be visible and to participate actively in all political and electoral processes in Nigeria.
Dr. Esther Uduehi, explained that despite the population of Nigerian women and their participation in electoral processes, they are not being considered as expected when it comes to inclusivity in decision making.
The Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, who was represented at the event by Dr. Lilian Agbazue, emphasized that the tenth National Assembly is working hard to pass bills that will address the plights of Nigerian women.

The President, League of Women Voters of Nigeria, Mrs. Irene Awunah-Ikyegh, said as an organization who is concerned about the plights of women, they have adopted strategies that will ensure that Nigerian women are given their due recognization in all sectors.
Mrs. Awunah-Ikyegh also emphasized that the league will leverage on new technology to mobilize women to fight for their course.
