FRSC ARRESTS 6,339 TRAFFIC OFFENDERS IN THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY                                                                                                          29-01-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC says 4,907 persons were apprehended for 6,339 traffic offences during the just concluded “Operation Zero Tolerance” in the federal capital territory.

The Sector Commander, Mr Muta’a Chorrie stated this while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.

He said non use of seat belt, use of phones while driving and over speeding were the major causes of accidents during the operation.

The Sector Commander noted that the experience during the end of the year special propelled the Corps to commence “Operation Falcon Speed Mobile Control”.

This according to him will help check the excesses of users of mobile phones and those bent on excessive speed in the six area councils.

He stressed that the Corps had provided raider guns and other operational logistics to enhance its efficiency in 2024.

Mr Chorrie said the Command would embark on intensive sensitization in churches, Mosques and Schools which have larger population.

This according to him is to inculcate driving culture and educate road users on effective traffic management in the FCT.

He maintained that the Corps would be visiting churches on Sundays and Mosques on Fridays as well as public and private schools.

He appealed to motorists particularly commercial drivers to always abide by traffic rules and give maximum cooperation to FRSC towards reducing road accidents with fatalities.
