NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT HAS DECLARED A STATE OF EMERGENCY ON THUGGERY IN THE STATE                                                                                                                                   14-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                To this end, security operatives have been directed to go after any hoodlum caught with weapon disturbing the peace of residents especially in the State Capital, Minna.

The directive followed the resurgence of thuggery in Minna which led to the killing of a member of a vigilante group, looting of shops and attacking law abidding citizens

Speaking at an annual Durbar organised by a former Governor of the State, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, Governor Bago also ordered house to house arrest of thugs and demolition of houses the miscreants used as hiding grounds.

The Governor said the State has zero tolerance to rascality and thuggery as such it would not allow anyone create unnecessary panic among residents.

He appreciated the former Governor for putting the annual Durbar in place and promised to support the initiative to promote culture.

In a remark, the former Governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu said the event was part of his contribution to preserve culture stressing that with appropriate support it would boost the tourism potentials of the State.
