PROTEST: APC SUMMONS STATES CHAIRMEN FOR AN EMERGENCY MEETING                                                                                                23-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                The National Working committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress APC has called for an emergency meeting of Chairmen of the APC in all the thirty-six (36) states of the federation to discuss the impending national protest.

The National Secretary of the APC Senator Surajuddeen Ajibola, disclosed this to newsmen at the end of the NWC meeting at the party headquarters in Abuja.

Senator Ajibola said the NWC has observed that since coming on board in 2023, the Tinubu administration has met quite a number of challenges, especially economic challenges that are gradually being addressed to bring relief to the people.

He added that most of the economic challenges are global issues, and can only be addressed after thorough brain-storming.

According to him, some of the issues highlighted by the protesters are political, while others are constitutional matters that can only be addressed through the amendment of the constitution, which is on-going at the National Assembly.

The APC National Secretary appealed to those who are planning the protests to shelve their plans and have confidence and belief in the government to address most of the economic challenges facing the nation.

The meeting therefore, urged all those planning the protests to have confidence in the President’s relentless efforts at repositioning the economy, while assuring Nigerians that the challenges will sooner or later come to pass.

He also urged parents and well-meaning Nigerians to monitor the movement of their children/wards so that they will not be used in causing chaos in the country.
