The nomination of members of the Commission follows the President signing of the North West Development Commission Bill into law on 24 July, this year.

Accordingly, Ambassador Haruna Ginsau from Jigawa State, will serve as Chairman, while Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji, from Kano, to serve as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission.

The rest are Alhaji Abdulkadir Usman, from Kaduna State, Alhaji Muhammad Ali Wudil, Kano, Alhaji Shamsu Sule, Katsina, and Alhaji Nasidi Ali, Jigawa.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, says the President expects successful nominees to contribute their wealth of experience and expertise to the Commission’s mandate of developing the North-West region.

It explains that the Commission will focus on catalysing significant growth, economic empowerment, and social development of the region.
