FOUNDATION DONATES DRUGS WORTH OVER ONE BILLION US DOLLARS TO 72 PHCs IN KEBBI STATE                                                                                                                                   10-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   The Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development in partnership with MAP International, has donated drugs worth over one billion US dollars to the 72 Primary Healthcare Centers(PHCs) in Kebbi State.

Speaking on the occasion of the handing over the drugs to the State Ministry of Health, the Coordinator of the foundation and Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Muhammad Samaila Mera, explained that, the aimed of the free distribution of the drugs to the PHCs in the state was targeted to reduce maternal mortality and other prevelence diseases.

The Emir, represented by Senior Councilor (Kwando Dan Kabi) at the Emirate Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan, said the drugs would help a lot towards assisting the people especially the less privileged ones in the area of good health.

According to him, the foundation would extend the exercise to other States after this first distribution saying, it is my belief that other states would accept it and use it whole heartedness.

The State Commissioners for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed BK and that of Physical and Urban Development, Alhaji Hayatu Bawa Jega, thanked the foundation for the gesture and appealed to the facilities directly benefitted of the drugs to utilize them judiciously.

They noted that, the gesture was in line with the policy of the State Government programmes that always targets directly the people at the grassroot.

Equally, Abdulrahaman Liman, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development, stated that, they have developed a tracking mechanism that would be use to monitoring the drugs reached the grassroot in all the 72 PHCs in the state.

The drugs are to be shared base on the indices of needs identified at the 72 PHCs and health facilities that are highly in needs of these drugs base on the data they have on the high rate of maternal morbility in the state.
