ACF APPEALS TO THE 19 NORTHERN STATE GOVERNORS, LAWMAKERS AND THE TRADITIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO COME TOGETHER TO CHART A WAY FORWARD                                                                               01-11-24
By Sadiq Aminu                                                               The Arewa Consultative Forum ACF, has again appealed to the Nineteen Northern State Governors, the lawmakers and the Traditional institutions to come together to chart a way forward for the challenges facing region.

The Chairman, ACF Board of TRUSTEES, Alhaji Bashir Dallatu made appeal in Minna when he led other Executives of the Forum on a familiarization visit to the Niger State Governor.

The visit was part of the renewed move by the Arewa Consultative Forum to canvass support and reawaken the consciousness of the Northern Governors to return the region back to its glory days.

According to ACF, the North is faced with interconnected challenges such as out of school children, Almajiri syndrome and insecurity.

The Board of Trustees Chairman of the group, Alhaji Bashir Dallatu expressed worry that these and other challenges were collectively solved in the past but now are left for individual states to address.

He said for the North to speak with one voice regardless of social status or religious inclination, truth must be restored and differences set aside.

The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago noted with nostalgia that the North that was once a hub of peace, education and industries is now virtually in shambles despite abundant human expertise in the region.

Governor Bago said as a regional body, the ACF should use it’s position to convince the Nineteen Northern states to jointly set up Research Committees to find the way forward.

The Niger State Governor appreciated the ACF for the visit and pledged his continued moral support.
