OVER 200 YOUTH TRAINED AND EMPOWERED IN KWARA STATE 12-11-24
By Sadiq Aminu Over 200 youth and women in Ilọrin East and South local government area of Kwara state have been training in capacity building and empowered with start up capital to make them self reliant.
Speaking on the four day orientation, training and Empowerment for women and youth in Ilọrin, organised by the National Institute For Hospitality and Tourism in collaboration with House of Representatives member representing Ilọrin East /Ilọrin South federal constituency of Kwara state, Dr Yinka Aluko said the idea of the initiative is to reduce poverty level among the people.
Represented by his legislative aide, Abdullahi Galadima, Aluko, said the most important thing in life is for one to learn a trade .
He explained that in today’s contemporary situation it is more profitable for individual or group to learn a trade and venture into the business.
Aluko noted that the richest people in the world are not government workers but business men.
In his address the Director, National Institute For Hospital and Tourism, Dr Philip Maga, represented by Mrs Victoria Omoleaupen from Enterpreneurship unit of the Institute said the aim of the programme is to eradicate poverty in Nigeria.
He advised the participants to give the training all the seriousness required, adding that government can not do it alone.
For his part the programme coordinator,Mr Clement Alegimenlen said the best way to assit the youth is through vocational skills.
He said the initiative would reduce youth restiveness and make them employers of labour.
