ECOWAS COURT LEADERSHIP WELCOMES NIGERIAN STUDENT LEADERS                                                                                                  12-11-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The newly elected leadership of the ECOWAS Court of Justice has welcomed a delegation from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Abuja.

The Court’s President, Honourable Ricardo Cláudio Monteiro Gonçalves, and Vice President, Honourable Sengu Mohamed Koroma, received the student leaders.

In his address, Honourable Gonçalves expressed appreciation for the visit and highlighted the vital role of young people in shaping the future of the region.

He praised the students’ commitment to democracy, stating, “Young people are the future and the guarantee of this country. We are very pleased to receive you and look forward to your contribution to promoting democracy and human rights in our region.”

The student delegation, led by Comrade Joy Mimidoo Gundu on behalf of NANS President Comrade Lucky Emonefe, congratulated the new court leadership.

Comrade Gundu reiterated NANS’ support for the Court’s mission to uphold justice and human rights across West Africa.

The meeting signals a new partnership between the Court and young advocates in the pursuit of justice and democratic principles in West Africa.
