NEW MOON: SULTAN OF SOKOTO DECLARES TUESDAY THE 3RD OF DECEMBER AS THE FIRST DAY OF JUMADA ATHANI 1446AH ISLAMIC CALENDAR                                                                                                                     03-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 His eminence the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar has declared tomorrow Tuesday the 3rd of December as the first day of Jumada Assaniya 1446AH , Islamic calendar.

In a statement signed by chairman Advisory Committee on religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, says the Committee together with the National Moon sighting Committee across the country, did not receive information confirming the sighting of the new crescent of Jumada Assaniya on Sunday the 29th of Jumada Ula 1446AH, equivalent to 1st December 2024 , noting that today the 2nd of December is the thirtieth day of Jumada Ula 1446AH and tomorrow shall be the 1st of Jumada
Athaniya.

The statement cited that the Monthly Observation of the moon,clarifies the Islamic Calendar within a given year, thereby making the month of Ramadan moon sightings more acceptable to the general Muslims in the Country.
