FG UPGRADES TWO HEALTH FACILITIES IN ADAMAWA TO FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRES                                                       03-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                The Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Adamawa State Government to convert Cottage Hospital Hong and General Hospital Mubi into Federal Medical Centres.

At the signing, the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, described the move as a key step toward improving healthcare services nationwide under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.

On its benefits, Prof. Pate, represented by the Permanent Secretary Daju Kachollom, asserted that the upgrade was critical to expanding and strengthening of health services across the country.

“This upgrade will not only serve the people of Mubi and Hong but also benefit the entire North East and neighboring countries,” Prof. Pate noted.

He further said the transformation of the hospitals into federal institutions would strengthen healthcare delivery and align with the ministry’s mandate to provide quality and safe healthcare.

Earlier, Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, who also chaired the handover ceremony, commended the Federal Government for its foresight in enhancing the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

She noted that the initiative aligns with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s commitment to prioritizing healthcare and pledged the state’s support for the project.

The State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Chief Felix Tangwami, also commended the Federal Ministry of Health for its efforts, and expressed optimism that the upgrades would significantly improve healthcare services in Adamawa State.
