JUSTICE MOJISOLA ORDERS THE ARREST OF FORMER AMCON MANAGING DIRECTOR, KURU FOR MISSING HIS ARRAIGNMENT FOR AN ALLEGED N76B FRAUD 03-12-24
By Sadiq Aminu Justice Mojisola Dada of a Lagos Special Offences Court has ordered the arrest of former AMCON Managing Director Ahmed Lawal Kuru for missing his arraignment related to an alleged N76 billion fraud.
The court scheduled the arraignment for Kuru, alongside Arik Air MD Captain Roy Ilegbodu and others, but Kuru was absent.
Prosecutor Wahab Shittu (SAN) requested an arrest warrant, citing Kuru’s failure to respond and his history of jumping administrative bail.
The EFCC has filed six charges against the defendants, alleging theft and abuse of office connected to Arik Air.
Specific accusations include Union Bank providing false statements to AMCON, resulting in the wrongful transfer of N71 billion.
Additionally, Kuru and others are accused of fraudulently converting funds for personal use.
The court issued a warrant for Kuru’s arrest and indicated that the order could be revoked if he appears at the next hearing.
