GOVERNOR YUSUF LAUNCHES FREE HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME FOR 300,000 VULNERABLES 23-12-24
By Sadiq Aminu In a groundbreaking move, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has officially launched the Abba Care Initiative, a free health insurance program aimed at improving healthcare access for Kano’s underprivileged populations.
Over 300,000 vulnerable residents have been enrolled in the scheme, which targets marginalized groups such as pregnant women, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, inmates in correctional facilities, and those living with sickle cell anemia.
The initiative is fully funded and managed by the Kano State Contributory Health Management Agency (KCHMA), providing free, quality healthcare services across designated facilities in the state.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that access to healthcare is a fundamental right for all citizens, pledging to continue implementing policies that prioritize the welfare and well-being of the state’s most vulnerable populations.
“This development is a significant step toward achieving universal healthcare coverage in Kano, aiming to uplift the lives of thousands while fostering a healthier, more equitable society.”
