53 SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY AS KANO TASK FORCE INTENSIFIES WAR ON THUGGERY                                                                                                                  16-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     In a bold move to restore peace and sanity to the streets of Kano, the Kano State Joint Task Force Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation has launched a massive operation against thuggery and substance abuse.

The operation, which took place on March 13 and 14, targeted notorious areas such as Yakasai, Kofar Mata, Zango, Zage, Zanzado, Rimi Market, Shahuchi Park, Kano Line, Sharada, Ja’en, Dan Agundi, and neighboring areas.

According to a statement signed by the committee public relations officer who doubles as the Kano state commissioner of information and internal affairs Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya.

The task force under the leadership of the commissioner of science and technology Dr Yusuf Kofar Mata arrested 53 suspects and recovered various illicit items, including, three parcels and 50 wraps of cannabis sativa, Codeine syrup and Rubber solution.

Others are 105 suspected exol tablets, Five cutlasses, Two scissors, Two clubs,. Bulk of suspected charms.

The statement explained that, the committee also apprehended five cattle suspected to belong to a notorious drug dealer.

The committee, led by Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, is committed to sanitizing Kano’s streets and restoring peace to the communities.

Waiya noted that, all suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

The success of the operation is attributed to the collaboration between the task force and other security agencies.

This operation marks a significant step in combating thuggery and substance abuse in Kano State.
