COUNCILLORS MUST BE INVOLVED IN ALL LG PROJECTS – GOV YUSUF                                                                            04-05-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Has Directed the Chairmen of the 44 Local Government Areas of the state to ensure that their Councillors were been involved in all the projects executed in their respective local government areas.

The Governor stated this during a meeting he held with 484 local government councillors from the 44 local governments in the state.

The meeting, held at the Coronation Hall of the Government House, aimed to strengthen the relationship between the state government and the local government councils.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasized that his administration is prudent and corruption-free, and any form of corruption or mismanagement would not be tolerated.

He urged the councillors to work tirelessly to ensure that the trust bestowed in them is not left in vain.

The Governor advised them to work in synergy with their chairmen to enhance education, health, agriculture, and human development.

Governor Yusuf directed the councillors to come up with projects that would benefit their wards, which would be executed for the benefit of all citizens.

” This initiative aims to ensure that local government councils are actively involved in addressing the needs of their communities.”

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Muhammad Tajuddeen, commended the efforts of the local government councillors in piloting the affairs of their respective local governments.

He urged them to continue supporting government policies and ensure that they inform the electorates about these policies.

The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Ismail Falgore, advised local government councillors to work in synergy with their chairmen to achieve set objectives.

He also appealed to the governor to review the salary and allowances of local government councillors to boost their morale.

The Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kano State Chapter, Hajiya Saadatu Yusha’u, praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his commitment to touching the lives of all citizens, regardless of their position or status.

The Chairman of the North West Councillor Forum, Bashir Shehu Achika, applauded the current administration’s efforts in providing infrastructure to the grassroots.

He noted that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has demonstrated commitment to supporting local government councils by allocating funds to execute projects for the well-being of the general populace.

Achika appealed to the state government to organize an official seminar to boost the capacity of local government councillors for effective service delivery.
