NYSC CAUTIONS CORPS MEMBERS AGAINST WRONG USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA                                                                                   13-05-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       National Youths Corps members serving in Lagos State have been cautioned against the use of the social media to spread fake information capable of inciting the people against constituted authorities.

The Coordinator, National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, Lagos State, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang gave the caution at the closing of the Orientation Course for the 2025 Batch “A” Stream One Corps members posted to Lagos State, held at Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.

She stressed that Corps members must avoid using social media platforms to spread fake news, cause disaffection or disrespect to constituted authorities.

She urged them to always use the Social media responsibly to promote peace, unity, and the ideals of the NYSC scheme.

Mrs. Salmwang emphasized on the fact that Corps members are expected to be agents of positive change wherever they found themselves and not to create disharmony in the society.

While the NYSC boss in Lagos State urged the Corps members to impact the communities where they had been posted to for their primary assignments positively, she appealed to employers of labour to take good care of the Corps members so as to enable them to deliver their best on every assignment given.

Mrs. Salmwang also warned the Corps members against unauthorized travels, stressing that if they must travel, they must board vehicles at approved motor parks for safety purpose.

In a message to the event, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance that the government would continue to work with the NYSC management to ensure that the welfare and general well-being of Corps members in the state are guaranteed.

He therefore, appealed to the Corps members to join the government in delivering its social and economic policies aimed at improving the lives of the people.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of Commendation award to some NYSC staff and Corps members that performed well in the course of the three weeks Orientation course.
