SOUTH-SOUTHEAST REP CAUCUS CALLS FOR CANCELLATION OF 2025 UTME
‎19-05-25‎
‎        By Sadiq Aminu                                                        The South East Caucus of the House of Representatives has called for a total cancellation of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

‎ The Caucus in a Statement by its leader Mr. Igariwey Iduma Enwo, the member representing Afikpo North/Afikpo South federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, advised Joint Admissions Matriculation Board JAMB to fix a new date for the UTME across the country.

‎ The South East Caucus of the House of Representatives also called for the immediate suspension of those at the commanding heights of JAMB’s digital operations and examination logistics.
‎ According to the group, it will be a thing of honor for the Registrar of JAMB to honorably resign to save himself and protect the good name he has built over the years.

‎ “The Registrar of JAMB is said to be a good man, but then, leadership must carry consequences, we therefore, call on the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, to do the needful, by resigning his appointment, to pave way for a thorough examination and remediation of the root causes of this national shame. That’s the way to go in any civilised democracy, and we expect no less”.

‎ The group while noting that the apologies and public relations campaigns, are not enough in addressing the far-reaching implications of the national embarrassment that attended JAMB’s conduct of the 2025 UTME examination, said there is the need to put in place measures for Nigerians to have confidence in UTME and other National examinations.
