ANAMBRA PWDs READY TO VOTE, DEMAND FULL INCLUSION IN 2025 GUBER POLLS………….

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Anambra State have declared their readiness to fully participate in the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

Chairman of JONAPWD, Mr. Ugochukwu Okeke, made this known during a security meeting in Awka organized by TAF Africa, an NGO promoting disability inclusion. He emphasized that inclusion is a right, not charity, and called on INEC to fully implement Section 55 of the 2022 Electoral Act to support PWDs.

Security agencies, including the Police and NSCDC, assured adequate protection, promising at least five officers per polling unit to ensure PWDs vote without fear or hindrance.

TAF Africa’s Lynn Agwuncha praised Anambra for domesticating the Disability Law in 2018 and urged continued efforts to uphold the rights of PWDs.
