NO CRISIS IN EDO NLC – EGWAKHIDE

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Acting Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Edo State Council, Comrade Bernard Egwakhide, has dismissed claims of crisis within the state labour movement.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria in Benin City, Egwakhide said the Edo NLC remains united and recognized under his leadership since November 2024, following the removal of Comrade Odion Olaye through a vote of no confidence.

He noted that reports of a caretaker committee are baseless, stressing that the State House of Assembly had already suspended any such move. Egwakhide maintained that the relationship with the national body remains cordial, adding that Edo workers are peaceful and fully support his leadership.

He described the alleged committee as “null and void,” insisting that the Edo NLC is focused on improving workers’ welfare, pay, and labour relations.
