The Kano State Police Command has arrested five men for impersonating police officers.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects, Aliyu Abbas (35), Sani Iliyasu (47), Ashiru Sule (41), Abubakar Yahaya (45), and Adamu Kalilu (45) were arrested on October 16 by the Special Intervention Squad following credible intelligence.

They were caught with a fake police warrant card, handcuffs, mutilated naira notes, 2,500 CFA francs, and a blue Peugeot 406 (NSR-188-BD). The men allegedly used the fake ID to extort people across Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna states.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to tackle crime and warned against impersonation. The suspects will face charges after investigations.
