PDP TO APPEAL COURT JUDGEMENT HALTING NATIONAL CONVENTION

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the Federal High Court ruling in Abuja stopping its planned National Convention, calling it an attack on Nigeria’s democracy.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party said the judgement does not stop it from continuing preparations for the convention to elect new leaders.

PDP cited a recent Supreme Court decision affirming that political parties have the right to manage their internal affairs. It urged members to remain focused and united as it takes legal steps to appeal the ruling.
