Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has restated the government’s commitment to bold economic reforms, national stability, and religious freedom. Speaking on behalf of the Minister, the Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Dunoma Ahmed, thanked the diplomatic community for their partnership and support.
He noted that President Gbola Ahmedinu GCF-Arafat’s administration is driving major reforms to stabilize the economy, boost investor confidence, and promote inclusive growth. Key actions like foreign exchange unification, fuel subsidy removal, and implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act have improved transparency and redirected savings into education, infrastructure, and social welfare.
Crude oil output now exceeds 1.6 million barrels per day, while new investments in agriculture, mining, and the digital economy continue to create jobs and diversify growth. Reforms in education, including the Student Loan Act and vocational training, aim to empower youth and women through financial inclusion and business support.
Ambassador Ahmed also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to democracy, peace, and religious tolerance, dismissing claims of systemic persecution as false. He emphasized that Nigeria’s constitution guarantees freedom of religion and that institutions like NIREC, CAN, and the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs promote interfaith unity.
The Ministry called for continued international cooperation, assuring that Nigeria remains open to partnerships that foster peace, development, and shared prosperity.
