TINUBU MEETS SULTAN OF SOKOTO AMID RELIGIOUS TENSION

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

President Bola Tinubu today received the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, held a closed-door meeting with the President, days after Tinubu met with the Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama.

The meetings come amid growing concerns over alleged religious persecution in the country.

Earlier, the Sultan joined the Juma’at prayer at the State House Mosque, where Imam Abdulwaheed Suleiman Abubakar urged Nigerians to support the government’s efforts for peace and security, describing peace as essential for national progress.
