PRESIDENT TINUBU SETS UP NATIONAL TAX POLICY IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a new National Tax Policy Implementation Committee to drive the smooth rollout of Nigeria’s updated tax laws. The committee, led by Joseph Tegbe and supervised by Finance Minister Wale Edun, will guide the government’s tax reforms aimed at boosting economic growth and improving public finances.

The team will engage widely with stakeholders, strengthen coordination among revenue agencies, and ensure that the new tax laws are implemented in a transparent and effective manner. Tegbe said the committee is ready to work for national development, while Edun noted that the move signals a major reset of Nigeria’s tax and fiscal system.

The committee is expected to improve revenue generation, reduce leakages, and support long-term economic sustainability.
