SOKOTO GOVT DEBUNKS REPORT OF GOV. ALIYU VISITING NNAMDI KANU

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Sokoto State Government has dismissed reports claiming Governor Ahmed Aliyu accompanied Abia State Governor Alex Otti to visit IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu at the Sokoto Correctional Centre.

In a statement by the Governor’s spokesman, Abubakar Bawa, the government said the report is misleading and untrue, noting that Governor Aliyu was not even in the country during the visit.

The statement explained that Governor Otti was received by selected commissioners and special advisers, who followed due protocol and escorted him to the Government House.

The government reaffirmed Governor Aliyu’s commitment to peace, respect for authority and the unity of Nigeria.
