NAFDAC DESTROYS N5BN WORTH OF FAKE, EXPIRED PRODUCTS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

NAFDAC has destroyed over N5 billion worth of expired, adulterated, and substandard drugs and food products in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

DG Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, represented by the North Central Zonal Director, said the items were seized from five states during enforcement operations. She warned that criminals now alter expiry dates and counterfeit products to deceive consumers, urging Nigerians to report suspicious items.

Governor Abdullahi Sule, represented at the event, described the exercise as a major step in the fight against harmful products. Stakeholders, including NDLEA and the Community Pharmacy Association, pledged stronger collaboration.
