By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Senate has received President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s letter transmitting the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) for consideration and approval.

Deuty Senate President Jibrin Barau read the letter during plenary, noting that the documents were approved by the Federal Executive Council on December 3, 2025. The president said the 2026 budget will be based on the newly approved parameters and urged the National Assembly to act swiftly.

The Senate adjourned to allow its committees to begin work on the submission.
