By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mallam Shehu Mohammed, has directed officers to work closely with state governments and stakeholders to enhance road safety during the Christmas and New Year season. Speaking at the Fourth Quarter Strategic Session in Abuja, he highlighted the risks of reckless driving, overloading, speeding, and alcohol-related accidents during the festive period.

Mallam Mohammed urged intensified awareness campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and adherence to safety measures. He also warned against scooping fuel from fallen tankers, noting that over 200 lives were lost in 2025 due to such incidents.

The FRSC boss emphasized the upcoming Electronic Passenger Manifest to improve data on interstate travel and highlighted the FRSC Amendment Bill as a step to strengthen road management. Lagos and FCT commands were recognized for outstanding performance.
