KWARA ASSEMBLY SUSPENDS LAWMAKER FOR CONTEMPT
By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban
The Kwara State House of Assembly has suspended a lawmaker, Hon. Saba Yisa Gideon, for three months over contempt and breach of legislative privilege. The decision followed findings that he recorded a closed-door session of the House and shared the audio without authorization, an action he admitted during deliberations.
The Assembly described the act as capable of bringing the legislature into disrepute and ordered the lawmaker to submit a formal apology within the suspension period. The suspension takes immediate effect.
