POLICE SECURE ONITSHA DURING MARKET CLOSURE

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Anambra State Police Command, working with other security agencies, has assured residents of Onitsha of continued peace and safety despite the temporary closure of markets. The police said joint security operations successfully prevented criminal elements from taking advantage of the situation to disrupt public order.

Police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, noted that security forces remained active on the ground, containing threats and protecting lives and property. He also warned against the spread of inciting messages and unverified videos on social media, stressing that such actions could fuel unrest.

Ikenga urged residents and traders to remain law-abiding and comply with government directives, assuring them that security monitoring and patrols are ongoing in the interest of public safety.
