KANO GOVT PROBES REPORTED DIPHTHERIA, CSM DEATHS IN GARKO

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kano State Government has launched an investigation into reported deaths linked to suspected diphtheria and cerebrospinal meningitis in Gamji Village, Garko Local Government Area. The move followed media reports alleging multiple fatalities in the community.

Health officials from the Kano State Centre for Disease Control were deployed to verify the claims, assess the situation, and provide immediate support. Residents showing symptoms were examined, samples were taken for laboratory testing, and free medications were administered. The team also sensitized the community on disease prevention, early reporting, and the need to seek prompt medical care.

Authorities say findings from the investigation will guide further action to protect public health.
