EFCC ARRESTS 10 OVER SUSPECTED ILLEGAL MINING IN KWARA

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ilorin Zonal Directorate, have arrested ten suspects over alleged illegal mining activities along the Ilorin–Ogbomosho axis.

The arrests followed credible intelligence on unlawful excavation and transportation of solid minerals across parts of Kwara and Oyo states. The suspects were intercepted during a coordinated operation and found in possession of minerals including lithium, tin, and lepidolite, believed to have been mined without valid licences or permits.

Trucks conveying the illegally mined materials were also recovered. The EFCC said the suspects will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
