FIRE HITS LAGOS AIRPORT TERMINAL, FLIGHTS DIVERTED

A fire outbreak at the old terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos caused brief disruption on Tuesday evening, leaving six people with minor injuries and forcing the diversion of three international flights.

The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, confirmed that operations were temporarily affected as a British Airways flight diverted to Abuja, while Lufthansa and Emirates were rerouted at the height of the incident.

She said the fire, believed to have started on the ground floor before spreading, was quickly contained through emergency response efforts involving airport firefighters and state agencies. No lives were lost, and flight operations resumed shortly after the airspace was reopened.

Passengers have been advised to proceed with their travel plans as normalcy is being restored, while investigations into the cause of the fire continue.
