REPS SUMMON REA MD, DEMAND URGENT ACCOUNTABILITY

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The House of Representatives Committee on Renewable Energy has summoned Abba Aliyu to appear on March 2 after missing a key investigative hearing in Abuja. Committee Chairman Afam Ogene directed the Rural Electrification Agency to submit a written response within 48 hours, stressing that public officers must be accountable for projects and funds affecting Nigerians’ welfare.

Representing the Agency, Executive Director Gboyega Ayoade apologized for the absence, saying it was unintentional. Meanwhile, Ofodum Vitus Ikenna, President of the Licensed Electrical Contractors Association, warned that renewable energy projects must use certified professionals to prevent substandard work, safety risks, and waste of public funds.
