Suspected bandits have bombed a key bridge linking Wawa and Luma communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, cutting off movement and disrupting daily life. The early morning attack destroyed the only access route between the communities, leaving residents stranded and unable to commute freely.
The incident has also forced the suspension of activities at the Babanna border market, which normally holds weekly and serves as a major hub for trade in the area. Local sources describe the destruction as a serious setback to both economic activity and social connections, calling for urgent government intervention to rebuild the bridge and restore normalcy.
The Niger State Police Command confirmed that the attack was carried out using explosive devices, noting that it appears aimed at undermining ongoing security operations. Authorities say clearance operations have been intensified while monitoring continues to ensure safety and stability in the affected communities.
