POLICE NAB SUSPECTED ROBBER, RECOVER GUNS IN IMO

Police in Imo State have arrested a suspected armed robber in Owerri and recovered firearms and stolen valuables during an intelligence-led operation. The suspect, identified as Chigaemezu Aguguom, was apprehended by operatives of the Orji Division near the Bishop’s Court area with gunshot wounds reportedly sustained during a failed robbery attempt.
During questioning, he allegedly confessed to being part of a five-man robbery gang and has provided information now aiding efforts to track down other fleeing members. Recovered items include locally made firearms, live cartridges, mobile phones, and other valuables believed to have been stolen from victims.
Authorities say the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution, while security has been reinforced across the state to ensure safety.
