KATSINA URGES CALM AS BANDITS DEMAND LIVESTOCK

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Katsina State has urged residents to remain calm after suspected bandits reportedly demanded 700 cattle and 1,000 sheep from communities in Kankia LGA, issuing a six-day ultimatum.

The threat has sparked panic, forcing many villagers to flee amid fears of attacks. Residents say the demand followed months of violence and abductions in the area.

Authorities say the letter is under investigation and may be aimed at creating fear, while assuring efforts are ongoing to protect lives and restore security.
