LAGOS REINTRODUCES MONTHLY SANITATION, WARNS DEFAULTERS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Lagos State Government has clarified modalities for the resumption of its monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for April 25, 2026.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the exercise will hold every last Saturday of the month between 6:30am and 8:30am, with restricted movement to allow residents clean their surroundings.

He noted that enforcement teams will monitor compliance and sanction defaulters in line with existing environmental laws, while waste collection trucks will evacuate refuse generated during the exercise.

The government urged residents to cooperate, describing the initiative as essential to maintaining a cleaner and safer environment.
