BANDITS KILL 10, INCLUDING PREGNANT WOMAN, IN KATSINA MARKET ATTACK

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

At least 10 persons, including a pregnant woman, have been feared killed following an attack by armed bandits on a grain market in Guga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Residents said the attackers stormed the community in broad daylight on Sunday and opened fire on traders and villagers, causing panic as people fled for safety.

The assailants also reportedly set several houses ablaze and rustled livestock before escaping from the area.

According to community sources, many of the victims were farmers from neighbouring communities who had come to the market to sell their farm produce.

The victims were buried on Monday during a mass funeral held in the affected communities.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies and government authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident
