TINUBU PLEDGES RESCUE OF ABDUCTED OYO PUPILS, TEACHERS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that victims abducted during the recent school attack in Oyo State will be rescued, while condemning the killing of one of the kidnapped teachers.

In a statement issued by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the killing as tragic and expressed sympathy to the families of the victims and the Oyo State Government.

Tinubu said security agencies were working tirelessly to secure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers, adding that the Inspector-General of Police was leading efforts to track down the attackers and their collaborators.

The President also stressed the need for state police as part of measures to tackle growing insecurity across the country.

The attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has triggered widespread concern and protests by teachers demanding better security for schools and communities.
