GOVERNORS BACK STATE POLICE, AGRICULTURE AND POWER REFORMS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has reaffirmed its support for the creation of state police, improved nutrition programmes, agricultural development and expanded electricity access to address key national challenges.

At its meeting in Abuja, the forum said consultations on state police were progressing and stressed the need for a constitutional framework that protects citizens’ rights and strengthens security.

The governors also pledged support for initiatives aimed at tackling malnutrition, boosting food production and strengthening agricultural value chains to enhance food security.

In addition, the forum endorsed plans to expand electricity access through renewable energy projects, describing reliable power supply as critical to economic growth and industrial development.
